Honest scoping first

When Business Central is the right fit
and when it isn't

You need to carefully decide when you need business central implementation services, as it fits you perfectly if you are a small or mid-market business. That is why we tell you when you need Finance and Supply Chain Management, so that you cannot deviate from your scope.

Business Central is right for you if…
  • $5M–$500M annual revenue — the SMB and lower-mid-market sweet spot Microsoft built Business Central for
  • 10–300 employees needing system access — a comfortable user count for the Essentials and Premium licenses
  • You've outgrown QuickBooks, Sage 50, or Xero — multi-location inventory, project costing, or proper purchase orders are now blockers
  • Microsoft 365 / Outlook / Teams is your daily productivity stack and you want native integration, not a connector
  • 1 to 8 legal entities with shared chart of accounts and intercompany consolidation needs
  • Standard manufacturing or service workflows — production orders, BOMs, jobs, time entry, service contracts
What it will cost: $10K–$90K implementation plus $70/user (Essentials) or $100/user (Premium) per month in licenses.
Choose Finance & SCM instead if…
  • Above $1B annual revenue with global multi-country, multi-currency complexity beyond Business Central's per-tenant scope
  • Multi-plant manufacturing with assembly sequencing, JIT/JIS line-side delivery, or full-blown MES requirements
  • OEM-mandated EDI at scale — if you're a Tier 1 supplier shipping into Ford, GM, or Stellantis with daily 850/856/830 traffic
  • Advanced WMS with directed putaway, wave picking, license plates, and RF scanner workflows beyond Premium's basic warehouse
  • 500+ users with per-region access controls and complex segregation-of-duties policies
  • Heavy IATF 16949 / FDA 21 CFR Part 11 regulatory documentation built into the platform itself, not bolted on
What it will cost: Finance & SCM starts around $180/user/month with implementations from $100K to $500K+. Different timeline (24–52 weeks) and skillset.

    License Pricing

    Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
    per-user license pricing

Business Central is available through Cloud Solution Provider with a per-user per-month licensing model. Trango Tech is a reliable CSP offering licensing and D365 Business Central implementation services.

    Team Member

    Light-task users

    $8 / user / mo
For approval, time entry, and read-only users.
    • Read access to all Business Central data
    • Approve / reject workflows (POs, invoices, time)
    • Time entry against jobs and tasks
    • Update personal info only
    • No transaction creation or editing

    $100 / user / mo
For manufacturers and field service operators.

    • Manufacturing — production orders, multi-level BOMs, capacity
    • Service Management — service orders, contracts, dispatching
    • Engineering change control + version
    • Mix & match Essentials + Premium per user

License + implementation = total first-year cost. A typical 25-user Essentials deployment with a Tier 02 implementation lands at roughly $25K implementation + $21K/year in licensing = $46K first year. Year 2 onward is just license cost. Trango Tech bills the licenses through our CSP relationship at the same Microsoft list rate — no markup — so you can move them to another CSP at any time without commercial penalty.

Plan Your AppSource Stack with Trango Tech
    Partner Vetting

How to vet your Business Central
    implementation partner

A wrong part can cost you a lot as the red flags compound over time. Three red flags. fore, our 7 important questions are published to save you from the wrong partners.

7 questions to ask any partner
    01
Are you a verified Microsoft Solutions Partner? Show me your listing on the official Microsoft directory, not just a logo on your own site. The designation is verified annually and self-claims do not count.
    02
How many Business Central implementations have you completed in the last 24 months? Not lifetime, not "engagements" — specifically Business Central go-lives. Ask for 3 customer references at companies of similar size.
    03
Is the engagement fixed-fee or time-and-materials? If T&M-only, that's a transparency red flag. Fixed-fee with a written scope protects you from runaway billing.
    04
Will my project team be US-based or offshore-only? Both can deliver, but you deserve to know up front. Hybrid teams are common; offshore-only without a US lead is a risk signal.
    05
What is included in Hypercare and how long is it? 30 days included is the industry baseline. Less than that, or paid-add-on Hypercare, is a red flag.
    06
What support tiers exist after Hypercare? SLAs, named CSMs, response windows. If the answer is "submit a ticket," you're getting handed off to a queue.
    07
Are third-party AppSource ISVs bundled in the proposal? If yes, what are the recurring fees and who pays them? Surprise ISV fees post go-live are the single most common dispute.
Red flags worth walking away from
"Trust us, we've done hundreds." No specific number, no references, no Microsoft directory link. Walk away.
Time-and-materials only. Not even an option for fixed-fee. They are protecting themselves at your expense.
"Hypercare is a separate engagement." Industry baseline is 30 days included. Charging for it means they expect issues post-go-live.
Pricing only after a 60-minute "consultation." Tier ranges should be public. If they won't share even a range, they are gating you.
No US-based project lead at minimum. Offshore can work for build phases, but discovery and UAT need a senior US-based architect.
Bundled ISVs without disclosed annual cost. Continia, Jet Reports, LS Retail all have real subscription fees. If they hide them, expect a surprise renewal.
Long-term lock-in on the CSP relationship. CSPs should be commodity. If they require a multi-year licensing commitment beyond Microsoft's own terms, they're trapping you.
"We custom-build everything." Custom code in BC is a maintenance trap. A good partner uses AppSource extensions and configuration first; custom only when truly necessary.

Yes, you need a business central implementation partner to implement the system, and Trango Tech is that verified partner with all the rights to do so. The certification renews annually after verification of success stories and deployments.
Microsoft Copilot is integrated with Business Central and performs marketing tasks such as generating marketing copy, summarizing bank statements, and answering questions. Copilot is included in the Premium and Essential Licenses at no additional cost. We set Copilot to the role so it acts as the sales, accounting, or warehouse team.
It supports multi-entity, multi-currency operations, where every legal entity is a separate company. All of them have their own accounts with financial consolidation at the parent level.

Implementing Business Central will deliver 200% in 3 years, and you can see the changes in 6 months. The qualifying results include productivity improvement for up to 15%, 3x faster billing cycles, and 95% inventory accuracy. Eliminating manual methods saves time and boosts productivity.

Ask whether they have a fixed fee or if it increases with scope, whether post-implementation support services are included, and whether they provide third-party integration. These are some of the necessary questions that you need to ask before deployment.
